Historic Context:
Images have been donated courtesy of Jonathan Moffatt. More details on the history of the Volunteer Forces can be found in Jonathan's and Paul Riches book 'In Oriente Primus' published in 2010 Many of the residents of Adam Park had fought in WW1 and had joined the volunteers at the outbreak of WW2. The majority of men who survived the fighting were captured in uniform and were held as POWs. Some were sent to Changi as civilian internees and later spent time at Sime Road camp looking back at their old houses at Adam Park.
