Other Description:
Item 16/4/10 was the largest identifiable piece of shell fragment. The curvature of the piece suggested a total diameter of 80 to 90 mm. Lettering and size suggests this was a British 3” Mortar Round.
Historic Context:
Finding such a larger piece of identifiable shell fragment proved that the garden at No.16 Adam park was shelled by British mortatrs during the course of the fighting. This would infer that there was a legitimate target in the area suggesting the Japanese had at some point occupied the house
