Other Description:

The water bottles in the test pit at No.3 were resting amidst a vast collection of tin shards. Some of the tins were excavated before they collapsed but are in a fragile condition. There were no distinguishing markings. Diagnostic pieces of tin shards suggested that they the majority were round. The majority appeared to be about 100mm in diameter. A few corner pieces suggested some of the tins were rectangular.

Historic Context:

POWs would hide valuable artifacts in the vicinity in anticipation on returning at a later date possibly as part of an escape attempt
