Other Description:
A number of larger pieces of ironwork were excavated in T1 and T0 at No. 2 Adam Park. They appeared all along the length of the transects and appear to have been discarded from the top platform at a number of points and not deposited in one location. The tool blades are from spades and Chunkels and of difering designs
Historic Context:
From the documentary and pictorial evidence it is clear that tools like these were used by the POWs and to have a number of them abandoned in the garden of a known POW accommodation block strongly infers that the items did belong to the men housed. However the tools may have been discarded by the many gardeners and working parties who have passed through the estate in the 90 years of occupation. Tools like this are still in common use today
