Other Description:
A collection of images relating to Lloyd Ellerman and his hidden radio set at 3 Adam Park
Historic Context:
Cpl Lloyd Ellerman served with 8 Division Signals and was posted to Adam Park to work on the shrine job. Lloyd was among a handful of men tasked with building and maintaining a radio. The radio was taken from one of the houses and spare parts procured through trading. Lloyd and his great friend Harold Fischer hid the radio in the billet underneath the house. They dug a suitably sized hole in the concrete floor and placed a lead lined cooler box filled with books over it. The box was fitted with a false bottom and the two signallers listened to the BBC most nights.
