Other Description:
This handmade lover’s token, made of brass, particularly caught the eye for its crudity and simplicity. The head of the arrow appears to be inscribed with the letters ‘K_ILY’, a possible clue as to the name of the lost love.
Historic Context:
Previous excavations at No.18 Adam Park had revealed evidence of POW’s creating metalwork from scrap metal. This piece has no obvious means of securing it to the wearer; there are no signs of pins or clips having been added to the reverse and no loop to allow it to hang from a chain again suggesting this was not manufactured or retailed.
