Other Description:
Item 8/2/209 appears to be of a similar typology to the other pieces in being rough on one side and smooth on the other with rounded edges. However the subject is indeterminable. Speculation is that it may be a hippopotamus, alternatively a shark or a platypus. The badge appears flat on one side as if cast in an open mold. There are few distinguishing marks although an attempt to score in some detail appears to have been made. The dorsal fin of the 'shark' has a hole in it onto which the badge would have been suspended.
Historic Context:
There appears to be a concerted effort to discard badges that may in someway identify battalion or units. This badge also appears to be 'homemade'.
