Locker tags
Item Information:
Catalogue Number: 9/25/022 Source: TAPP Archaeology Surveys Location: No 9 Adam Park Report No: Report No.16 Artifact Type: Domestic Item Production Date: 2013-01-16 00:00:00 Dimensions of Item: 45mm dia Copyright with The Adam Park Project
Other Description:
Two brass tags were discovered that were of particular note. Each brass tag is 45 mm in diameter, 2mm thick and annotated with the initials ‘P.K.’ under which is stamped the numbers ‘283’ and ‘277’. The lettering appears to have been applied using the same stamps and the format and font are identical. Above the initial is a small hole 5mm in diameter. The items resemble a locker tag perhaps for the swimming pool or golf club. The unsunken small hole suggests that the tag was to be nailed onto its location or suspended on cord
Historic Context:
It is possible that the ‘P.K.’ refers to a person but no one with those initials has turned up in the research on the Adam Park tenants to date. Likewise the abbreviations may refer to a location or society.
