Special Order of the Day dated 16th August 1942 by Major General MB Beckworth-Smith on the day of his departure to Formosa thanking the men of the 18th Division for their service. The letter is typed onto note paper and was distributed by the Administration Office for the 18th Division in Changi to all the men of the 18th Division being held there at the time.
Historic Context:
Beckworth Smith was transported to Formosa with many of the other senior officers but died but died the following November of Diptheria at the Karenko Camp. He is now buried in Hong Kong
