DHSS letter dated April 1979 informing Sgt Moore that the assessment of his pension will continue unaltered and that his degree of disability is assessed at 40%. The letter lists Sgt Moore's wounds as gunshots wounds to the chest, fractured right Carpal Scaphoid, corneal ulcer with recurrent conjunctivitis and privation with residual nervous symptoms'
Historic Context:
Sgt Moore was wounded in the fighting on the evening of the 13th February 1942 whilst on patrol alonhg D Coy lines at the west end of the Adam Park Estate. He was hit by machine gun fire and shrapnel from a grenade. He was evacuated to Alexandra Hospital where he survived the massacre and then spent the rest of the war in Changi. He continued to have trouble coping with his wounds until his death.
