Sgt Moore, like many of his colleagues, filled his spare time during his rehabilitation by crafting the remains of mess tins and artillery shells into memoribilia of his time in Changi. This item has been crafted from an old mess tin. It fits snuggly around a matchbox keeping it semi protected from the damp and preventing it from being crushed as it is carried around. The cover is adorned with the regimental badges of the Cambridges and the Suffolks as well as the word 'Singapore'.
Historic Context:
Sgt Moore was initially atached to the Suffolks prior to the war and was transferred to the Cambridgeshire as part of the effort to post experienced men into green battalions.
