Sgt Miyakubo’s Snaps 70 years On
Relatives of Sgt Miyakubo have shared with us some snaps of his time in Singapore including some of him at a house somewhere on the Mount Pleasant Estate. The 41st Regiment set up their battalion HQ among the newly captured houses soon after the surrender. Miyakubo worked for the 41st 2nd battalion HQ and posed for a number of shots in front of his new dwelling. It didn’t take too long to track down the house and take similar photos 70 years on. The palm tree has grown somewhat but the house remains almost the same. Note how much battle damage has been filled in over the intervening years. These shots are a good indication as to how Adam Park would have been quickly fixed up after the fighting.
