Other Description:

A sketch map first published in Michael Moore's work 'Battalion at War' and later used on the heritage information board outside No. 7 Adam Park.

Historic Context:

The sketch shows the main geographic features that are mentioned in Moore's account of the battle. Notably he includes the location of the tennis court that was used to hold 500 POWs at the end of the fighting before they were marched to Changi. Also note the scattering of buildings at the foot of Hill 95 and Water Tower Hill which may have been the object of house to house fighting mentioned in other accounts. The author also shows specifically No.20 Adam Park, the scene of Sgt Moore's wounding.
